Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotionally Focussed therapy is for couples, individuals and families experiencing relationship conflict and distress and can be used to help anyone wanting to improve their relationship skills. It is an evidenced based model of intervention which is successfully used world wide to de-escalate conflict and develop a shared understanding of the difficult patterns and/or emotional distance that have emerged within your relationship. EFT for couples will assist you to create new interactions in which you and your partner are able to clearly communicate your needs and fears and to be responsive to each other, You will learn to manage relationship stressors more effectively, reduce feelings of loneliness, isolation and distress and develop a greater sense of calm. Whether you want to rescue a relationship after infidelity, or an affair or re-discover intimacy and sexuality EFT will assist you to understand yourself and your partner and what drives the pattern that keeps you stuck.
Research has shown that Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) helps 70 to 75 per cent of couples to move away from relationship distress into relationship recovery, with 90 per cent of couples reporting improvement to their relationships after EFT therapy.
These are amazing results – using EFT you have a 9 out of 10 chance of improving your relationship and a 7 out of 10 chance of “fixing it” if things are in a really distressed state.
